Hearing a popping sound when driving is rarely a good sign. Often this is caused by running over something sharp, and the sound you hear is a tire getting punctured. Fortunately, you don’t have to feel helpless in this situation, as changing a flat is actually pretty easy. Here our MAZDA service center goes over the steps this involves:
Step 1
As long as you have a jack, lug wrench, and spare tire in your car, you’re good to go. Get them out.
Step 2
Next, take the lug wrench and loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire without removing them completely.
Step 3
Put the jack under a strong part of your car’s frame and turn the handle clockwise until the tire is off the ground several inches.
Step 4
Now, remove the lug nuts and flat tire. Then, line up the holes on the new tire and put the lug nuts back in. Tighten them by hand.
Step 5
Lower the car by turning the jack handle counterclockwise and then tighten the lug nuts with the lug wrench.
Step 6
The last step is to get a new spare tire. You never want to be caught unprepared, so it’s always important to have a spare on hand.
