One of the biggest decisions that you’ll have to make at our dealership is whether to buy new or pre-owned. This decision gets even more difficult when the pre-owned model in question is only a couple of years old, such as a 2021 Mazda3. Here at Green Mazda, our dealers are happy to outline the differences between the 2021 model and the new 2023 model of the new Mazda3, as well as highlight general differences between new and pre-owned cars.

2021 MAZDA3 vs 2023 MAZDA3

Though only two model years separate these two versions of the Mazda3, the automaker has gone a long way in updating the sedan’s feature set. Under the hood, the 2021 Mazda3 features three available engines, including a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 250 horsepower. Because that engine was new for 2021, it is still the top-level engine on the new 2023 model, though it has been tweaked and improved.

Where the new 2023 Mazda3 differentiates itself performance-wise is with the G-Vectoring Control Plus system. This new feature responds to steering inputs with braking adjustments and subtle torque changes.

Technology is another area where the new model has improved. The sedan comes standard with Mazda Connected Services, which has features like:

  • Remote engine start
  • Available in-car Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Automatic 911 dialing

New vs Pre-Owned

Speaking more generally, these are the advantages of purchasing a new Mazda car:

  • Fully customizable
  • Latest technology
  • New car warranty
  • In perfect conditions

These are some advantages to buying pre-owned:

  • Lower prices
  • Less depreciation
  • Lower insurance rates

Discover whether the 2021 Mazda3 or the new model is right for you by taking both for a test drive here at Green Mazda. Our dealers look forward to showing off the features of each model.
