If you ever find yourself needing replacement parts or you’re due for scheduled maintenance, then it’s time to visit the Green Mazda service center. Our certified technicians are committed to helping you get back to confidently enjoying the road as soon as possible. One way we can help you out is by providing quality car battery service. Of course, if you end up with a dead car battery, you may need to jump-start your car.

How to Jump-Start a Car

If your car won’t start, not all is lost! You can simply jump-start your car and get mobile again using these steps:

  1. Locate the car battery: pop the hood and find your car battery, which should be prominently placed toward the front of the engine compartment on the driver side. Most car batteries also have a little handle and are clearly labeled. Be sure to find the (+) and (-) symbols and that they’re relatively cleaned off.

  2. Attach your jumper cables: while both cars are off, take the red (+) clamp and attach it to the positive terminal of the dead battery and take the other red end and attach it to the positive terminal of the other vehicle. Repeat this step with the black (-) clamps as well. Be sure not to let any ends of the clamps touch each other while attached to a battery.

  3. Start up the cars: finally, start up the working car and turn the ignition in the car with the dead battery. At this point, both cars should be able to start up and drive.
